About

In a democracy, sovereignty belongs to the people.

A violation continues only as long as it goes unquestioned.
Change begins the moment someone asks.

Don’t ask, “Why complain?”
Ask, “Is the law being followed?” Is there permission?
Are the legal limits met? Was action taken? If not,
ask why, and ask again.

One complaint may not change everything,
but persistent questions and documented complaints ensure accountability.
When the finger points at the complainant,
learn to point it back at the authorities responsible for enforcing the law.

A complaint is not a nuisance.
It is a citizen’s democratic right.

Are you ready to question noise pollution, lawfully?

Privacy Policy: Kolambi Out!

Kolambi Out! is a campaign of Silence the Noise (STN), a noise-pollution advocacy initiative in Kerala, run under esSENSE Global. This policy explains what the Kolambi Out! complaint portal collects, why, and what happens to it.

1. What we collect

  • The complaint: place of worship type, institution, address, PIN code, post office and police district (looked up from the PIN code), incident time, the Google Maps location you enter, the description, the offence categories you tick, and a photo of the loudspeaker.
  • Reporter details (optional): your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, your relation to the place, and whether we may contact you.
  • Mistake reports: if you report a wrong detail in a published complaint, we keep the report, the parts you ticked, and the reporter details you gave.
  • Technical data: a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit repeated submissions. The IP address itself is not stored.
  • Security check: the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated submissions. Cloudflare processes that check under its own policy.

2. Why we use it

  • To record and check the complaint, and to compile approved complaints for the authorities.
  • To contact you about your complaint, if you agreed to be contacted.
  • To prevent spam and repeated submissions.

3. Who sees it

  • Public: only approved complaints appear on the public gallery. The gallery shows the institution, post office and PIN, and the district. It never shows reporter details.
  • Authorities: approved complaints are sent to the authority concerned. The complaint files do not include reporter details.
  • Reviewers and administrators: authorised STN reviewers and administrators can see the full record while they review it.
  • Law: we may disclose information when the law requires it.

4. How long we keep it

  • Reporter details, contact consent and the IP-derived hash are deleted automatically 60 days after the report was sent. The deletion runs every day.
  • The complaint itself (place, description, photo and status) stays on record as part of the campaign's complaint files.

5. Your choices

  • You can leave all reporter details empty and still send a complaint.

6. Security

Reporter details are kept in private tables. They are never written to the public CSV files. Only authorised STN staff can open the admin and reviewer pages, after signing in.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date of the latest change is shown below.

Privacy Policy: STN Member Dashboard

Silence the Noise (STN) is a noise-pollution advocacy campaign in Kerala, run under esSENSE Global. This policy explains what the STN Member Dashboard collects, why, and what happens to it. It applies to the personal data of every STN service kept in the dashboard.

1. What we collect

When you register and use the dashboard, we keep:

  • Account details: full name, mobile number, e-mail address, PIN code, post office and district (the district is looked up from your PIN code), and the dates you registered and last signed in.
  • Optional details: gender, age, occupation, house name and landmark. You may leave these empty.
  • Password: stored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it.
  • Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and your Google-confirmed e-mail address. We do not receive your Google password. Accounts created this way have no password of their own; they sign in with Google or with the e-mail OTP.
  • Member ID: issued by STN when the account is created.
  • Messages: messages you send to the STN administrators, and their replies.
  • Complaint activity: a record of complaint e-mails you prepared or sent through the dashboard, and the details you chose to include in them.
  • Chat: messages and files you send in the dashboard chat.
  • Sign-in codes: one-time codes sent to your mobile or e-mail. They are temporary and are not kept after use.

2. Why we use it

  • To create and protect your account, and to confirm that it is you when you sign in.
  • To send one-time codes, account notices and password-reset confirmations.
  • To prepare and send complaints that you choose to send to an authority.
  • To answer your messages and to run the campaign's member services.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who sees it

  • Authorities: when you send a complaint, the authority you chose receives the complaint and the details you included in it.
  • Mail delivery: complaint and account e-mails are sent either from your own e-mail account (the dashboard opens your mail in a new tab) or through STN's mail service. The mail service passes the message on to the mail provider.
  • STN administrators: authorised administrators can see your profile, messages and complaint activity in order to run the service.
  • Law: we may disclose information when the law requires it.

4. Freezing, restoring and deletion

  • You, or an administrator, can freeze an account. A frozen account cannot sign in.
  • Grace period: 60 days. During these 60 days the data is kept, so that an administrator can restore the account and you can revise your details.
  • Automatic deletion. When the 60 days end, all personal data of the member is deleted automatically. This includes the account, messages, chat, activity records and attachments. A daily job carries this out, and the deletion is completed within one month after the grace period ends.

To ask for your data to be corrected or removed before the grace period ends, send a message from the Messages section of your dashboard.

5. Cookies

The dashboard uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to keep the dashboard working. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Security

Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Sign-in codes expire and are removed after use. Attachments are kept in private storage that cannot be opened directly from the web. Only authorised administrators can open the admin area.

7. Children

The dashboard is for adults. If you believe a child has registered, contact us through the Messages section and we will remove the account.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date of the latest change is shown below. Continued use of the dashboard after a change means you accept the updated policy.
